East midlands trains

Late again!!! Thursday morning the train that I normally catch was 20mins late, this resulted in me missing my connection and being late for work. The worst bit was the reason why it was late. Derby station stated that it was a slow moving freight train but when we got on the train we were told it was because of engineering works. They could at least get their stories the same.

Government and trains

Yes I am moaning again, but I have reason this time. This government, the same as every one that has been before and the same as those that will follow are to be polite wasting their time. On what you ask? On getting people out of their cars and using trains or any other type of public transport instead. I know I should be doing something for the enviroment but at what cost? I did a bit of pricing up the other day because I was considering taking my kids and partner to London for the day. I thought I would price up the train as it would get us there quicker. I got out the laptop and clicked on National rail to find train times and prices. Train times were great, the quickest journey was 1 hour 31 mins. This was great I thought, then I clicked the link for the price. OH MY GODDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In order to take my family, which comprises, myself, my partner and my two sons(one 16 and one 18) it would cost us.........................wait for it.....................................

Walk down by the canal

Image
What a nice day! Or so I thought when I got up. I decided yesterday that I was going to go for a walk somewhere today, but couldn't decide where to go. I knew I would have to cycle to begin with as my car is broken. At about 1030 this morning I decided to go down to the local canal and go for a walk to see what I could see. I packed my binoculars and my camera, a couple of bird books, spare batteries, gloves and a bottle of pop. As I was cycling down the road(it's only about 2miles to the canal start at Stenson bubble), my bike decided it wanted to break(the bolt on the crank arm decided to come loose), but that was not going to stop me I thought. Every now and then I had to stop and tighten it with my fingers, it was never going to get really tight as I had no tools with me. It then decided to rain, I looked behind me and decided that it was going to blow over so I continued on towards the canal. When I got to the canal I locked my bike up against a telegraph pole and started

Fifth Gear

You know I thought the only fifth gear was either on my car or on my push bike. It seems there is also a tv show, can't be as good as Top Gear though. I got a phone call yesterday to say that these tv people were coming to film at my store today (I run a BP petrol station in Nuneaton). Thanks for the notice!!! 10 phone calls later and the staff know what to do, I hope. They turned up today along with the stars of the show and the staff had not let me down. The store from what I have been told was in really good shape and it was good enough for showing on TV! Being shown on Fifth Gear Jan 26th 2009, Channel 5 at 8pm. Can't wait to see the store in all its glory.
